Background Information

The Association of African Students in Europe (AASE) is a network founded in Brussels, Belgium in February 2010 by a group of African students out of the need to unite, empower and develop African students across Europe thereby enabling them to adjust to their new environment while at the same time providing their European peers the opportunity to get to know more about Africa and Africans beyond the 'international media and Aid organization’s camera lenses'.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to build a strong African Student community in Europe that will serve as a bridge between Africa and Europe thereby serving as an economic, social and cultural instrument for the growth and development of the African continent.

AASE NOW

Today AASE is the largest Africans Students’ movement in Europe with membership across more than 30 countries and Universities in Europe. We are successfully growing into a full fledge of student's network across Europe. Our members are today leading the change both in Africa and Europe. We strive to provide support, resource, and guidance to all of our members across Europe. With the support and cooperation of our members, we aim to enhance our ability to fulfill our objectives.

PROGRAM PILLARS

We are passionate in our belief that every African student in Europe that is engaged in global debate about Africa possesses the power to solve Africa’s toughest problems such as corruption, mismanagement and conflicts. To ensure the active engagement of our members we got the follow program pillars:

  • Leadership training

  • Intellectual discourse (debate tournament)

  • Cultural events

  • Social and educational support for members

  • Fighting hate speech online and offline

  • Human rights education

  • International internships....

OUR VALUE

We are dedicated to equipping our members with the social and leadership skills to solve the challenges faced by their respective countries and the African continent at large.

Our core aim is to ignite our members' hearts with holistic concern for their country and Africa. At the heart of our program is the convection that all men are created equal and that self respect and respect for others is an integral part of coexistence. This is why combating racism and discrimination as well as promoting intercultural understanding is a key component of our program pillar.

Our founders envisioned an organization that could be the hub of cultural understanding. By creating bonds between African Students from different countries we reasoned that it will enable them showcase the beautiful African cultures and rich history that most part of the world do not see. With this, we believe that our European peers could celebrate and appreciate our unique culture and history, instead of deriding it and fostering discriminating against Africans.
